Download the PTSO's new, comprehensive list of Volunteer Opportunities hereEach opportunity is rated by degree of commitment (one to five "hands"). Please take a moment to review the list, then select the way(s) you'd like to get involved with your school. Sign up in one of three ways

  1. Contact the PTSO volunteer coordinator, Cynthia Smigelski, at tccas1234@aol.com 
  2. Return this Volunteer Sign-up Form to your student's Advisory teacher
  3. Tell a member of the PTSO or the secretary in your child's House Office

For a calendar of upcoming events, click here. Among the many activities that the PTSO organizes, supports, sponsors, or assists with each year are:

  • Publishing the MORE About Slauson Newsletter

  • Publishing and distributing the Student Directory

  • Raising money for, organizing chaperones for, and assisting with running major overnight trips like the 7th Grade Camp Howell overnight experience and the 8th Grade Chicago Trip.
  • Organizing or chaperoning Family Fun Nights - evenings of pizza, swimming, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, and/or dancing
  • Organizing or chaperoning the 8th grade graduation party

  • Volunteering to assist with student organizations and clubs

  • Embracing PTSO fundraising initiatives

  • Assisting in planning end-of-year activities (picnics, Rolling Hills Trip, etc.)

  • Serving as members of the School Improvement Team
  • Forming committees for hospitality, media center upgrading, and more

Other opportunities include helping individual teachers, tutoring, enrichment activities (including sponsoring after school clubs and academic opportunities, e.g., Chess Club), and chaperoning field trips and dances.
